The further from the old town and the waterfront, the lower the prices, and you reach the centre on foot or by local bus. When Split is more expensive

Prices rise in summer and in the season of events. They climb the most in September, but the full peak is July and August. The city is also a launch point for the islands of Hvar and Vis and for Trogir, so in season rooms in the centre go fastest. The most pleasant sightseeing is outside the peak, in late spring and early autumn.
